The Indian Public School established in the year 2001 endeavors to 'make a difference to your child's life'. With rapid changes in lifestyles among today's Indians, it is important to strike a balance between age-old traditions and modern day outlook. The School endeavors to create equilibrium by adopting the ancient technique of Gurukul education, but with a scientific edge. It aspires to produce a citizen who is abreast with the changing times, and yet rooted in his or her value system.
The school is a dream of Mr.R K Sinha who felt the need to bridge the gap between western techniques of education and Indian value system, to form the 'True Indian School'.The Indian Public School is a co-educational, English medium and residential in nature, with classes I to XII, affiliated to the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examination, New Delhi.
Objectives & Philosphy
The main objective of the School is to foster values of life in the child's training programme at all levels, ensuring the promotion of rich Indian values.The School strives to be known for its excellence in teaching, by providing students with highest quality instruction, library and lab resources required for comprehensive learning and bringing out the hidden talents of the students.
It also aims to direct the potential of the students and helps them realize their capabilities by presenting them numerous opportunities in various fields. The School recognizes quest of knowledge, enlightenment and truth as the highest goals of life.
All efforts are made to have the right mix of academies and extra curricular activities, for a complete personality development. A comprehensive training package has been created to provide a thirst to the student's physical, cognitive, emotional, spiritual and moral growth and development.
Sprawling Campus:
The Indian Public School is situated in a sprawling, 120 acre campus with sylvan surroundings. Surrounded by hills on all sides and having a thick tree cover the campus virtually nestles in the lap of nature, free of any kind of pollution. The idyllic surroundings are ideal for the growth of young bodies and minds and the neighbouring countryside provides excellent opportunities for trekking, climbing and cross country runs.
Essential Infrastructure and Facilities:
The school has adequate facilities with well equipped and airy classrooms, separate hostel blocks for boys and girls , a common dining hall, library and science and computer labs. There are large playgrounds along with basketball, volleyball, badminton and tennis courts and a swimming pool. More playgrounds and courts are in the offing.
Staff Accommodation:
All staff, academic as well as administrative, stay in partly furnished accommodation in the school campus with the teaching staff in constant touch with the children during the day.
Dairy and Bakery:
The school has its own dairy and bakery to ensure the supply of fresh milk and bread to children.
Dining Hall:
The School mess has a well-equipped, modern kitchen and efficient chefs to cook and serve food of good taste and high nutritive value. A Mess-in-charge is responsible for the proper quality and hygiene of the food being served. He or she also plans the menu in such a manner that the child does not miss home cooked food. Keeping this in view, a large variety of dishes is served over the week.
A gracious and orderly atmosphere pervades the dining hall as students take their seats before meals, beginning with a prayer. A singular feature of the dining hall is the open kitchen where anything that is cooked is within the view of all staff and students. To inculcate a sense of responsibility among the students, suggestions regarding the planning of the menu are invited from them on a regular basis.
The menu includes an interesting variety of dishes - North Indian, South Indian, Continental and Chinese cuisines, chaats and pizzas. Efforts are made to ensure that dishes are not repeated too often and that every meal has all the required nutrients for the growing children. The school has its own vegetable garden, dairy and bakery for fresh supply of vegetables, milk and bakery items.
There is a common room in each of the residences, for the children to watch TV or play indoor games like Table Tennis, Chess and Carom. The residences have a matron or housemaster who is responsible for the all round development of the child. They act as a mentor to the child and guide him or her wherever necessary. The idea of entrusting the child under the tutelage of a mentor is reinforcing the age-old Gurukul tradition.
The management believes that dormitories are not just sleeping place but homes for the children. There are separate dormitories for boys and girls, each of them maintained by a Dorm In charge whose room is attached to dorm for round the clock supervision. The sanitary blocks are clean, well maintained and have 24-hour supply of hot and cold water.
Dispensary:
The school has a six-bed dispensary under the supervision of a visiting doctor and a resident nurse/compounder. In addition to this, the school has tied up with a nearby hospital, close to the school and reachable in 15 minutes for hospitalization, diagnostics and other medical emergencies. The school owns a medical van for emergencies.
Guest House:
The guest house within the campus is a heritage site in itself. It is a 200 year old bungalow which has been renovated while maintaining the old charm of the structure. Parents are welcome to stay in the guest house while visiting their children on prior request.
Hostels:
The students are accommodated in beautifully designed dormitories for their comfortable stay. Each block is named after the ancient universities of India. The residences have a Housemother or housemaster who is responsible for the all round development of the child. They act as a mentor to the child and guide him or her wherever necessary. They are assisted by assistant housemasters and ayahs in the day-to-day running of the hostels.
The management believes that dormitories are not just sleeping places but homes for the children. There are separate dormitories for boys and girls. The sanitary blocks are clean, well maintained and have arrangements for hot water during cold weather.
Apiary and Agriculture and Horticulture:
An added attraction at IPS is its apiary that supplies fresh and natural honey to the school. IPS has its own agriculture and horticulture that produce 100% pesticide free green vegetables for consumption of students. We do not use any chemical fertilizers.
